Second Guessing

Do you obsess over being sure you are going to make the right decision? Maximizers tend to research and weigh every fact and influence in the hope of making the right decision ... and then never really commit to one. Maybe these questions won't cure your self doubt, it may help to curb it ...
  • Have circumstances changed since you made the decision (or purchase, etc.) - if not, then the decision is valid and no reason to second-guess it
  • Does the decision contradict any of your core values or beliefs (should be done before hand as well)
  • Did you do sufficient research before hand (like pro/con lists, financial or personal/soical impact review, etc.) - if so ... then let go
  • Is there a 'back-door' ... do is there a return policy, trial option, or option to reverse decision? If this was assessed before the decision, then dont second guess or fret.
  • Review history. What has been your trend and performance on decisions in the past? If the majority of your decisions were indeed correct - hooray, let it go.
