The recipes below share how early pioneer Florida Crackers used to prepare their meals (and some of their descendants still do). These Crackers came down from the southern states, many of them just after the Civil War.
Florida was a harsh country back then, and these pioneers learned to live off the land and prepare their food in the simplest possible ways.
