Metabolically healthy is defined as the absence of the Metabolic Syndrome. Metabolic Syndrome is having too high or too low levels of three of the five factors.
To have perfect metabolic health, you need a waist circumference below 40 inches for men and below 34.6 inches for women, blood sugar below 100 mg/dL, blood pressure below 120/80, triglycerides below 150 mg/dL, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (also known as “good” cholesterol) greater than or equal to 40 mg/dL for men and 50 mg/dL for women.
So pull out your last blood work and see where you stand ... metabolically speaking.
