Have Eggs Been Around a While?
To test their freshness, place each raw egg in a pot of water. If the egg floats, it's rotten. If it stands on its pointy end, it's 10 to 14 days old. If the egg tilts, it's about 3 or 4 days old. You want an egg to sink and lie on its side. That means it's fresh—any fresher, and a live chicken will be walking out of your kitchen.
