Five (5) Year Financial Plan

In my corporate life, I spent many years facilitating business and strategic planning for large organizations. One of the models we used created longer term objectives and goals 3, 5 and 10 years out, based on what is important to the business, and then align major tasks and projects to those objectives. On the personal side, we can view those 'business' objectives as Values and do the same thing for defining a five year financial or retirement plan. Whether you are saving for retirement or are already in retirement, this approach can serve nicely as a financial plan check-up since life and family events change any plan we define. The article in the web site highlighted below does a decent job at laying out how one should establish SMART goals and provides a simple model to create that plan.
