No-BS Guide to Avoiding Common Cold

With the cold season upon us, here are tested and indesputable basics to avoiding the Common Cold used by Doctors. We already are aware of several of these that have worked for us and those that you think may work but probably don't.

Those that work and are used ...
  • Get Sufficient Sleep ... 7 hours or more is preferred
  • Wash Hands Often ... 4-5 five times a day has proven to reduce respitory ailments
  • Don't Smoke or Drink ... both dehydrate the body which cold grems love - so, be sure to drink water after wine <grin>
  • Get steamed or sauna or exercise with sweating ... several times a week reduced colds 50%
  • Eat chicken soup ... provide hydration and feels good (see also these foods for coping with the common cold)
  • Get more sunshine or Vitamin D ... helps strengthen the immune system
  • Get a massage ... as a stress reliever to aid the immune system
What does not have proven research or evidence to support their use? ... Vitamin C (jury remains out), Echinacea, Zinc, Saline Nasal Spray, OTC medications (but make you feel better), Antobiotics (cold is a virus and not a bacterial infection), increased exposure to people with colds to build us resistence (nope - to many variants)
